Stranded!

Recently I just posted on my social media a video of rain outside my house and how I miss it terribly, being in the Middle East for five years you’ll only experience rain once a year when its gonna change season from summer to winter and vice versa.

But for 2 weeks now, it is constantly raining everyday without fail with typhoon signal to nearby provinces and storm forming after another. Hmmm, seems like the heaven gave me the rains that i missed for the past years LOL!

Kidding aside, today, me and my kids were travelling to the city for an appointment and to arrange some of my important documents. I am from the province and to get there we need to travel like 3 hours to reach the city, passing through the mountain roads, unfortunately, there’s a landslide so we were stuck here waiting for the concern department/help to clear the road.

While writing this, the signal were on and off, photo not uploading and I don’t know if this will be publish on time too. Been here for almost 2 hours. For now, I’ll just enjoy the scenery for a while. 🤣🤣🤣

Take a Break, Breathe

Anyone, no matter what’s your life status, whoever the fuck you are, either you’re the richest man in the world or an average worker, needed a break once in a while… Not just to spend money or for leisure only , rather than to breathe and escape from the crazy world we are at.

We have different choices to release our stress, calm ourselves, meditate, unwind, freshen our mind, soul search, breathe… or whatever you wanna call it.

While some of us might choose to travel out of the country, shopping, visit historical places, road trips –  I choose to be near the ocean/nature, it calms me and my inner soul. The relaxing sound of the waves breaking on the shores, the humming of birds, and the fresh air blowing, seems like it is removing all the toxins from your body. These, are priceless, it’s worth doing every now and then, just to get back your mind to sanity, think properly and come out fresh again.

You? What’s your escape from reality?

The Terminal

One day, I was waiting for a friend to arrive, and her flight was delayed, SUCKS! So I need to sit in a corner, ordered a damn expensive coffee to keep me awake at 1 o’clock in the morning, with nothing to do, I focused on people arriving, some will go directly outside to take taxis, and some have someone like me waiting for them, I even saw one old guy, hiding a bunch of roses behind his back, and when the old woman saw him, they hugged and kissed, and they went outside with another two people whom I thought were their kids…. AWWWW! I got that romantic excitement! So touchy! I want a Love like that, age is no reason for you to be sweet to each other. (Sigh)

TERMINAL – Where people arrive and depart, people of different nationalities, different characters, different reasons, with different emotions.

I, myself had been to places, with different reasons in every particular travel that I had, some for pleasure and tours, business purpose, and for working overseas.

I also had different feelings in each travel. Excitement and fear, for my first flight and being on a plane. Joy for a particular vacation, whether out-of-town or out-of-the-country. Who wouldn’t want an escape sometimes?

Heartache, for leaving my children behind to take opportunity abroad, and fear because I don’t know what kind of surprise life has for me.

Nervous, when my company sent me to Thailand to have a meeting with one of our clients. – And Yes, I spent my 2 days between the border of Myanmar and Thailand, without even seeing tourist spots, he he he.Well, what do I expect, it is a duty call. But it was a great experience as our host was very down-to-earth although he is a rich businessman in that place.

Overwhelmed when I went to India to attend one of my colleague’s marriage. People treated me well. Fun, having a 3-day-vacation to Istanbul, Turkey to unwind away from work and pressure.

How many times I picked and dropped my friends to Dubai Terminals? Pick and Drop, Pick and Drop, Damn — PICK.AND.DROP… I envy them during those moments, until after 4 years, I finally got my turn, I surprised my daughter on her graduation day, she never expected that I will be there attending her special moment which I almost missed because my flight was delayed for hours. I finally saw my son who’s already taller than me, my elder daughter, who got my resemblance and almost have same height as mine, my youngest who remains sweet and child at heart. Four years, it changed them a lot. Leaving them again is painful, I saw their sad faces when it’s my time of departure to come back here, they even tried to hide my passport. I hid my tears, pretend I was smiling, we do things for a reason.

Imagine how many stories and feelings these terminals had, from thousands to millions of people passing through it every single day. Just like some people from your life, friends or love ones – they come and go. No matter what, the real ones will stay, not just physically, but in your heart, FOREVER.

And for me, I am still waiting for that moment to meet the one who will stay with me until my last breath here on earth, a true love who deserves the love that I can give in return, to love and to hold, in good or bad times and the one who will never break my heart, but to keep it safe… Yes, I am… When that right moment comes, I will be waiting for you at THE TERMINAL.

Remembering a bit of – Amazing India

“Diana, I am inviting you to my wedding” Anish exclaimed!

Anish – a good friend of mine since 2015, he is one of our company Auditor, hearing this good news from him made me excited. I replied “Wow! You’ve finally decided to settle drown, errrr down I mean, welcome to the crazy world!” I was laughing. Getting an invitation like this makes me proud, he even offered me a place to stay in India. As much as I wanna be there on his special day, it’s not the good time for me to travel this month, first of all, I just came from my vacation in the Philippines, and I need to sort some expenses and bills here. So, financial wise, it is not possible. Glad that he understood why I can’t. But Anyways, Congratulations bro and sis. (picture below)

This is not my first time to get an invitation and the venue will be in – KERALA, INDIA, the first one was from my colleague Jijin last 2014 which I attended, expenses were arranged by him and our company, all of us are present, I just need to worry about my pocket-money, which I didn’t spent much because I stayed with my Boss’ house with his family and parents. I was treated very well, I felt special. And talking about a traditional wedding, and staying with a conservative family, I need to set aside my pants and tights, and wear a churidar, I choose this because I can’t wear sari, and can’t afford it either, he he he their visitors also are overwhelming, it’s like you need to invite the whole town, just look at the photos below, they were actually relatives of both sides, and this photo wearing white dress uhmmm, is me, with one of the sweet little lady who never wanted to leave my side from day one she saw me. 🙂

Visiting this place made me feel I was like in my home country, the Philippines. The weather, the trees, mountains and landscapes are similar, with a little difference on how they built their houses and I praise them for still wearing their traditional/national dress until this day. I just hate one thing in that place, the way they drive at night with the high beam on — all the time, scares the hell outta me and praying that I will be able to get back home safe. All in all, how the people welcomed and treated me, their food preparation, the temples I visited are all thumbs up. And the most exciting one is their famous — House Boat/Kettuvallam, either you choose to rent it over night or just to take the tour for hours, rooms are available, you can do fishing and cooking inside while watching the scenery of the place.

My stories are not enough how to describe in general this amazing place, because where I stayed and  what I saw were just a small, small, small part of their culture, tourism and land. There are a lot more to see, and I am hoping that one day I can return again to visit more places or another state.

For sure, One thing that we will search in a country we will be staying at is its Temperature… and what do you expect here in the Middle East? 😅😅😅

There are only 2 Seasons here in UAE, Summer and Winter.

  1. Summer

The scorching sun will melt you! Literally!

All establishments here are fully equipped with AC (Air Conditioners). It is a MUST! Your workplace, trains, buses, even bus stop cubicles has it. Why? During summer season, normal temperature outside is 38℃ – 42℃, it gets worse sometimes and hitting 50℃ plus, getting out from your building can be like, you are roasting yourself, imagine a burning charcoal in front of you, water coming out from your shower will really hurt you.  Yes, but it is real. Summer here usually starts from March to October. Expats like me are already used to this kind of weather.

Pity for those who work outside as construction laborers, that’s why during this season, when the temperature hit its worst and can’t be bearable for human, the government here will not allow construction companies to work in the middle of the day but to adjust it until evening to avoid accident and health risk issues.

But hey, don’t be upset that much because summer time is also BEACH TIME!

1

Beach goers and lovers can still enjoy the sand during this season, some chose to be under the sun early in the morning or late in the afternoon like 6 pm, during this period the sun can’t do damage on your skin. Here is Dubai, beaches are now one of the destination you can enjoy and relax, which also offer beach activities/sports and running tracks.

and when it RAINS??? When this happens, it’s a sign that it is changing its Season. Means, it is just in between the summer and winter season exchange.

       2. Winter

Let that “BOOTS” out from that closet!

“During the winter season it has an average daytime temperature of 25 °C (77 °F). Nighttime temperatures near the coastline range between 12 °C (54 °F)-15 °C (59 °F), while in the desert they are 5 °C (41 °F) with the nights being relatively cool throughout the year.” Climate of Dubai

Oh Yes baby, we have Winter season here in UAE, and you can and will enjoy this time of the year, this season usually starts from November to February. And it’s time for you to change your outfit, put back those summer dress inside your closet, bring out those sweaters and boots and take advantage of this short period of time climate.  Snow here is real, but once it does, you need to hurry because it won’t last for long. It is during this period that you can enjoy more of having city tours, desert drive adventures, camping, dhow cruise and other tour activities.

So choose which season would you like to be here in UAE. Cheers!
